Customers want seamless cooperation between different positioning technologies. Location based services require accurate, seamless, and ubiquitous positioning. GPS alone is neither precise nor reliable enough for pedestrian navigation. Wi-Fi, Assisted-GPS, and Dead-Reckoning are several candidate technologies to complement GPS but no single positioning technology is able to meet all requirements. The innovation that provides us a unique selling proposition (USP) is our patented MIMO – based navigation solution. MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology uses multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communication performance. We are the first to recognize the potential to use multiple antennas to enable navigation and to patent it. RF channel signatures are already measured by mobile devices during standby or normal operation. Our patented method correlates these channel signatures to determine the speed at which the user is moving. The travelled distance is then estimated as speed multiplied by time.
